Dennis Elliott Hocker

Dennis Elliott Hocker was born on August 24, 1954 in Denver, Colorado, to his parents, David Hocker, Jr. and Lucinda Yvonne Hocker. He was the second child born to this union.  As a child, Dennis was always well balanced. He was the first to learn how to ride a unicycle. He was true to his name, “Dennis the Menace.” He was always mischievous.

Dennis attended Columbine Elementary school through the fourth grade. He then went to Annunciation Catholic School for two years. After Annunciation, he went to Gove Junior High School for one year then was transferred to Cole Junior High School. After his Junior High School years, he attended Manual High School, where he graduated in 1972. While at Manual, Dennis took classes in auto mechanics. After graduating, Dennis obtained a job as a mechanic.

Shortly after working in the mechanics shop, he joined the Navy, where he became a First-Class Fireman. While in the Navy, Dennis was able to see the parts of the world starting in San Diego, California and on to his West PAC tour which took him across the Pacific Ocean to Asia.

Dennis enjoyed reading the Bible and was always handing out devotionals. He was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church on October 6, 1963, under the leadership of Reverend M.C. Williams. He also was an avid bike rider and rode his bike everywhere he went. He also enjoyed shopping and was an immaculate dresser. At Christmas time, Dennis was very generous with gift giving to his family. Dennis was extremely close to his cousin, Sammy Hynes.  Sammy will miss the time they shared.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, David Hocker, Jr. and Lucinda Yvonne Hocker.
