Alma Jean Brown
Alma Jean Brown was born on February 13, 1930 to Willie Bell James and Samuel Houston Brown. She was an only child. Greenville, Texas was her place of birth.
As a young child, Alma became an accomplished pianist. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. At the age of 16, she married Wilton Brown and they were united until her passing (73 years).
To their marriage eight children were born. Marcia, Linda Mae, Wilton Gene, Harold, Stanley, Jerry, Edmond Ray and Eleanor.
Alma primarily worked as a salesperson, although her main duties was a homemaker. She was a confidante, a visionary and non-judgmental. A wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. A true matriarch!
Alma became a member of Lone Star Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA and was crowned “Worthy Matron” in 1997. She was also recognized as a Living Legend in 2008.
Mrs. Alma Jean Brown went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents and four children.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 73 years Wilton Brown, four children; Stanley Brown-Bey, Jerry Brown, Edmond Ray Brown (Linda Jean) and Eleanor Winters all of Denver, Colorado. Three Grandchildren; Michael Shawn Brown of San Antonio; Shontell Denise Brown and Eric Ray Brown of Denver, Colorado. One great-grandchild Michael Shawn Brown II of Austin, Texas, favorite Cousin Rhonda Gail Moon of Dallas, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
